Clayton lives in Granby, CT with Betsy, his wife of 25 years.  They have two daughters, Alicia and Jenna.  Family is the cornerstone of his life and his writing.

Clayton was born in 1953 in Sherman, Maine. He spent early years growing up in Northern California and finally moving to Connecticut during his sophomore year of high school.  He studied at Tunxis College, University of Connecticut and Morse Business School earning degrees in Computer Science.

He worked for various Insurance and Consulting companies to develop software utilizing GUI knowledge systems and Relational Database technologies. In 1990 He opened his own company, Knowledge Tree, Inc. serving clients around the world developing custom software.  His company currently sells software specifically created for the Martial Arts and Landscaping industries.

Clayton has been an avid student of the Martial Arts, studying in several styles Kung Fu, Kenpo and Acupressure.  He currently holds the rank of a fifth Dan in Kenpo Karate.  He owns and operates East West Karate, CT in Granby, CT serving nearly 200 students from ages 3 to 64. 

He has developed a S.A.F.E. Kids program designed to offer (for FREE) to any child and parent in the surrounding communities seminar training in; 1) Child abduction prevention, 2) Dealing with Bullies, 3) Dealing with Teasing and Peer Pressure, 4) How to control anger, and 5) Cool Kids Don’t Need Crutches (Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco abstinence programs).
